Henri MALFROY or Malfroy-Savigny.
Painter of seascapes and landscapes. Postimpressionist.
Born January 15, 1895 in Martigues (Bouches-du-Rhône) / Died in 1942.
He did his apprenticeship at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris with Charles Malfroy who could be his father, with whom he is often confused.
He exhibited regularly in Paris at the Salon des Artistes Français and the Salon des Indépendants until 1934.
Adopting a technique close to Impressionism, he painted the coasts and ports of the Bouches-du-Rhône and the Var, but also landscapes of Paris and the banks of the Seine.
Settled in Martigues, he broadened his touch and brightened his compositions, coming closer to the Provençal landscape painters, such as Ziem.
